Hi everyone! It’s my pleasure to pop my head out to share some good news on the composition front :-). Last week I was officially awarded the 2013 Silver Harris and Jeff Peck Composition Prize at an awards ceremony in Brisbane. This award takes the form a commission for the QLD Conservatorium Orchestra due in September that will be read/performed and recorded in 2015! Yippeeee!
My sincere thanks to Silver Harris and Jeff Peck for their generous support through this prize. This will be my first work for full orchestra and I’m really looking forward to digging into work on it very soon. So many interesting ways to approach this and so many things I’d like to try. Can’t wait!
Update 3/11/14: Here’s a beautiful photo from my morning tea with Silver Harris at the start of July. What an inspirational woman behind the Silver Harris and Jeff Peck Composition Prize! We were two peas in a pod and both huge fans of Judith Wright’s poetry. I want to be as cool as Silver when I grow up, really I do!
