January Update

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful festive season. A special shout out to those that didn’t – Christmas and New Year can be a tough time for those who don’t have supportive (or slightly functional) families.  If that was you, I’m sending lots of love and support your way!  Although I’m not big on resolutions, I have resolved to update my blog more frequently – albeit in shorter formats. Without further ado, here’s a little on December and the start to 2016…

Laila & Lisa at 3MBS

Early December I had a lovely chat with the amazing flautist (Syzygy ensemble), broadcaster and new mum (woop!), Laila Engle, on 3MBS Fine Music. This chat was part of a new project, that to my knowledge,  3MBS plan to unveil this year.  And yes, that’s us to the left being super professional and serious.

Christmas came and went too quickly, but it was a lovely chance for James and I to catchup with our families on the Gold Coast and Brisbane.

JanuaryLisa & Peggy in Melbourne 13/1/16
I’ve been having a lovely time hanging out with Peggy Polias this week as we plan for our joint venture, Making Waves. Although we’ve been working together on MW for a year now, this is the first time we’ve been able to meet in person (Peggy is based in Sydney and I’m in Melbourne). I think this is pretty impressive!

It feels like a crazy-busy month for me: my PhD Confirmation at the University of Melbourne is right around the corner and there’s a commission for the Melbourne Chamber Choir to be finished. I’m also working on a children’s song arrangement for the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and am full steam ahead on Making Waves. However,  even through the tight deadlines and lack of sleep, all I want to say is that it’s such a privilege to be doing all of the things that I love.

Making Waves: ‘2015 Waves’ Playlist

If you’re new to Making Waves, why not start out by catching up on all the amazing music we featured in 2015, below. We’ve got some great ideas for 2016 and I encourage you to follow us at our site via email, wordpress, facebook, twitter, soundcloud or youtube. Head to www.makingwavesnewmusic.com for more.

If you’re a composer, please consider submitting your music to MW here. We’re always looking for quality new works to feature!

Lastly, thank you for taking the time to stop by to read this, and as an extension, lending your support to my creative endeavours. Although you may not know it, the kind words and ‘likes’ you send throughout the year really do light up my days. Let’s keep spreading the love and keep being kind to one another wherever we can.
