Score Give Away!

It’s a right royal celebration here at Composer HQ this week as ‘Drought’ prepares to be released through the Australian Music Centre!

Score give away

I’m counting my blessings that ‘Drought’ has finally been given permission by the text copyright holders to go forth and live in the big wide world! To spread the love I am giving away signed hardcopy scores of ‘Drought’ in anticipation of the upcoming release of the score through the Australian Music Centre! If you would like your own free copy of this beautiful work for Solo Soprano and Choir, with text by Judith Wright and commissioned by The Australian Voices mailed personally, then contact me on FB, by email lisajcheney@gmail.com or via www.lisacheney.com.au and your name will be put into the draw (my hat!). Even if you don’t win this week, your name stays in the draw for the remaining draws.  This promotion ends once the score becomes available for purchase online at the AMC. The next two winners will be drawn this Friday 21/11/12!

Listen as many times as you like

I’m very thrilled to be able to share this recording of ‘Drought’ with you. This recording was made by the superb The Australian Voices at Tall Poppy Productions back in 2012.

Dedicated to…

‘Drought’ is dedicated to Jocelyn Wolfe and William Duckworth whom are/where very special people in my life. I wrote a small post about Bill shortly after his passing which you can read here. My sincere thanks goes out to Jocelyn for making this commission a reality, and for giving me the chance to express myself through music in this manner.

Text by Judith Wright

This work marks the beginning of my love/creative attachment to Judith’s poetry! I’ve also recently written a work for the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra inspired by her poem ‘The Pool and the Star’ which you can read about here.
